Quaint and silently tucked away, Chess Club is a non-for-profit establishment of obscure mystery in a town of cut n dry places of entertainment. The initial question of “is this someone’s home?” raises as one passes by. Surprisingly enough though the answer is, “sort of.. yes.” The receptionists are always homely and welcoming, prompting that you may either take a self guided tour if it’s your first time, or have one of them show you around. Chess Club has three stories of history and family memories of competition. A 600 (plus) member (and growing) club of people who’d like nothing more than to share their love of the game with others. A game whose rules are culture-less and color blind as seen in the faces of the Chess Club’s society of members who attend everyday, like the 15year old girl who almost beat me in our war of ‘silly mistakes’! However if it’s your first time at the hull of the 16 light or dark pieces of strategic war, do not worry, for there are plenty of patrons/employees who’re ready and willing to teach you the beginner or advanced techniques of the game. Simply put, no matter who you are when you’re in these walls you’re treated like family with a singular name of interest or love, Chess.
